Financing for Publications
Financing Open Access Publications
In the traditional publishing model, libraries and readers pay for access to journals and books. In the open access system, the authors and their institution bear the costs of publication. Publications can then be accessed and used internationally.
At the TU, open access publications are financed through:
- Third-party or institute/department funding
- The publication fund
- Discounts on publication fees
The TU Publication Fund
Starting in 2017, with support of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), the TU Berlin is establishing a publication fund to support university researchers’ publications in open access journals.
Available balance for the current year (as of: 31 December 2017): 31.276,64 EUR (out of the original 62,720 EUR).
