Borrowing, Renewing and Returning
If you want to check out books you will need a library card ("Bibliotheksausweis").
To check out items from the Open Access Areas in the Central Library, go to the Circulation Desk on the Ground Floor or use the Self-Issue Machines there.
Items requested from the Closed Stacks can also be collected at the Self-service collection area in the Circulation Department. Here you can find all items requested from the closed stacks as well as all reserved items when they are ready for loan.
Loan period in the Central Library is 4 weeks. Reference materials (marked by a red dot on the book spine), journals and rare books are not for loan.
|Which type of item?||How long?|

by phone at (030) 314-76001.

- items been reserved by another user.

- your library card has expired
- items which have been ordered via interlibrary loan.
- your library account has been blocked.
Reminder Email Notices
Tip: Tell us your email address (in person at the library or enter it in your library account by yourself). As a courtesy, the TU University Library then will send you a reminder email notice shortly before items are due.
However we advise you to check your due dates regularly. Non-receipt of a reminder notice will not constitute grounds for waiving of fines.
If possible, return items to the library where you have borrowed them. A self-return machine is available in the Central Library building in the foyer next to the Library doors. A return receipt will be issued on demand. Besides, there is a book return slot marked "Anonyme Buchrückgabe" outside the Library in the Foyer.
Out of opening hours of the Departmental Libraries, you can also return the items in the Central Library during the opening hours of the Circulation Department.
