Digitisation

Media items from the University Library’s collection that are particularly old, rare and in need of protection ("Rara") may only be viewed under special restrictions in the library rooms.

For this reason the University Library is seeking to digitise these works. In this way, the valuable originals can be protected, while their contents can be offered online as part of the library’s Digitised Collections, where they are available to everyone, independent of time and place.

Proposing an item for digitisation free of charge

You would like to suggest a work from the holdings of the University Library for digitisation? Then please complete this form for free digitisation suggestions. We will be happy to digitise works from our collection for you ...

  • if they are free of copyright or out of print,
  • if they are not already digitised and freely available on the Internet,
  • if the material conditions and size of our copy permit digitisation
  • and if there are no other reasons not to do so.

Suggested works will be digitised completely and in accordance with the Practical Guidelines of the German Research Foundation (DFG). Within 2 to 4 weeks they will be available online in our Digitised Collections.

Proposing an item for digitisation subject to charge

Do you have an urgent digitisation request or do you need a scan of especially high quality? Then please complete this form for digitisation orders.

Please note: These services can only be offered for works with no copyright restrictions. We are happy to advise and support you in questions of rights clearance.
