Lockers & Book Storage

Daytime lockers

  • Available to all users for the duration of their stay until the library closes
  • Free of charge

Central Library

  • If you would like to use a locker, please bring your own padlock.
  • Please note: The bolt must be between 5 and 6mm wide.

Purchasing or borrowing padlocks

You can borrow or purchase padlocks for the daytime lockers in the Central Library from Kiepert Unibox.

Cost:

  • To purchase: starting at 7.50 EUR
  • To borrow: 1 EUR plus a 10 EUR deposit (You must return the lock by 18:00 or no later than 12:00 the following day)

If you would like to buy a padlock when Kiepert Unibox is closed, you can purchase one from the library’s security service.

Physics Department Library

  • Your own padlock
  • Or coins (1 or 2 EUR coins)
  • Deposit only, returned after use

Book storage

Book lockers

Book lockers allow you to lock borrowed materials and personal items.

  • Are available for free to all users with a valid library card
  • Look in the Primo Knowledge Portal to see if there are book lockers available
  • Can be found on floors 1- 4 and the ground floor of the Central Library and the Physics Department Library
  • Keys for book lockers in the Central Library can be obtained from the circulation desk
  • Keys for book lockers in the Physics Department Library can be obtained from the information desk
  • If you would like to store books from TU and UdK, you must first borrow them
  • The spines and call numbers must be visible from the outside
  • Book lockers can be used for four weeks. If you exceed the loan period, you will receive a notice just as for an overdue book.
  • If the book locker has not been reserved, you can renew your loan period yourself in your account in the Primo Knowledge Portal
  • If you have lost the key to your book locker, please complete the form to report a lost key

Book storage trolleys

Book storage trolleys allow you store and lock borrowed materials and personal items and easily transport them throughout the library.

  • Available for free to all users with a valid library card
  • Look in the Primo Knowledge Portal to see if there are book storage trolleys available
  • You can obtain a book trolley and key from the Central Library (3rd floor) and the Physics and Architecture Department Libraries
  • Trolleys can be used for 2 months and renewed for another 2 months
  • If you exceed the loan period, you will receive a notice just as for an overdue book

Book depot

  • To store books which you have not borrowed and would like to read in the next few days
  • For all users
  • Located on floors 1-3 of the Central Library at the front stairs
  • Located at the entrance area of the 2nd floor in the Architecture and Art Studies Department Library
  • Store items for up to 3 days
  • Free of charge

Other storage options

Plastic tote bag

  • Cost: 0.20 EUR
  • Available for purchase from the security staff in the Central Library or in the department libraries

Basket

  • Free of charge
  • Located at the entrance of the Central Library and department libraries
  • Only available for the duration of your visit
