Registration and Library Card

Using the Library

You do not need a library card to use our collection in-house. However, if you wish to check out a book or use our licensed e-resources, you will need to register.

Library Cards for Members of TU

  • TU students: Your student card is also your library card. It is ready to use immediately for borrowing items and using your online account as well as our licensed e-resources.
  • TU staff: For registration please use the online form.

Library Cards for External Users and UdK Members

External users and members of UdK receive one library card for the two university libraries of TU and UdK. Library cards are issued in the Circulation Department in the Central Library. Please note that a library card can only be issued if an e-mail address is provided. For registration please use the online form.

How much does a library card cost?

Losing your Library Card

For TU students:
Please inform the Campus Center as soon as possible about changes of address and name as well as the loss of your TU student card.

For external students and members of the UdK:
If you lose your library card, have your account blocked by the loan desk as soon as possible. Until your account is blocked, you are also liable for any misuse of your library card. Please also inform the loan desk of any changes of address or name by e-mail to leihstelle(at)ub.tu-berlin.de.

For the issue of a replacement library card please use our online form.

A fee of 5 EUR is charged for the replacement of a lost or damaged library card.
